Support
Email support@bodycompfit.app. The most useful report has three parts: what you did, what you saw (a screenshot beats a description), and what you expected instead. For anything involving a number, include the real number — "it said 480, the label said 610" is fixable; "the calories look wrong" is not.
Join the beta
BodyComp is in a small private beta on TestFlight, Apple's app for testing apps before they reach the App Store. Places are limited; to ask about one, email support@bodycompfit.app. TestFlight builds expire after 90 days, and each new one says what to test.
Frequently asked
Why doesn't the AI photo estimate match my kitchen scale?
Because it's an estimate. The camera can identify food well; portion size from a single photo is genuinely hard — a wide bowl holding a little rice looks identical to a normal bowl holding a normal serving. If you know the weight, type it: a weighed value always beats the photo's guess, and the app treats it as fact rather than a hint. Every AI estimate is shown for review before it's saved, and that review is part of how the app works.
Is the app giving me a diet?
No. Targets are calculated from standard published equations and your own goal, or from the maintenance the 21-day check measures from your own log, and the weekly review comments on your logged data. None of it is medical advice, and none of it knows about medical conditions you haven't told a doctor about. See the Terms of Use — this is the most important thing in them.
Where is my data? Can you see it?
On your device and in your own private iCloud. We can't read it — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what our server does and doesn't handle. One exception is the AI features: when you run one, that request's input goes through our server to the AI provider. It isn't stored there, but it does pass through, and the policy lists exactly what each feature sends. Chat is the other exception. If you are signed in, the name you type during setup and the handle and profile picture you pick are stored on our server, and so is what you post in a room. If someone reports something in a room, our moderators can read it and the conversation around it, and each time a report is opened, that is recorded.
Do progress photos go anywhere?
BodyComp never transmits them. They sit in a separate store on the device that doesn't sync to iCloud, no AI path can read them, and they never reach our server. Two things sit outside that, and neither of them is us: they are not excluded from iPhone backups, so if iCloud Backup is on — it is by default — they go to Apple with the rest of your app data; and you can put them in an export yourself with a switch that is off by default. Deleting them in the app doesn't reach a backup already taken.
Do I need an account?
Not for the tracker. Typing and saving into your own log work signed out. Sign in with Apple is needed for the AI features on our account, which include meal photos and label scans. It is also needed for a subscription, for searching USDA's database through us, for chat, and for connecting WHOOP, Oura or Google Health. Signing in shares no name and no email; the app asks Apple for neither.
I deleted my account. Why am I still being charged?
Because deleting your account doesn't cancel your subscription — only Apple can do that, at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancel first, then delete. If you deleted first, cancel now and ask Apple for a refund for anything billed since; we'll support that request, but we can't issue it ourselves.
How do I back up?
Settings → Storage → Export All My Data produces a .zip with your records as plain JSON and photos as ordinary JPEGs — readable without the app, and restorable in the app from the same screen. WHOOP and Oura sleep, your fluid target and your training plan are not in it. iCloud sync mirrors your current data across your devices, but it is not a backup: it has no history and no undo, so a deletion reaches every device. Export before big changes.
Why does the app say "no readings found" instead of telling me a Health permission was denied?
Because iOS deliberately never tells apps whether read access was denied — the app genuinely cannot distinguish a denial from a scale that hasn't synced. Check Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → BodyComp if readings you expect aren't appearing.
WHOOP shows a workout but no sets and reps
WHOOP's API doesn't expose Strength Trainer sets, reps, or weights to any third-party app — only session-level data like strain and heart rate. That's why the app shows WHOOP sessions as read-only context above your own log, which is where progressive-overload tracking lives.
A planned day is showing food I haven't eaten
By design: days you plan ahead are labelled "Planned" and drawn with hollow dots on the calendar, and planned food never counts toward your averages, energy balance, or weekly review until you confirm it on the day with "I Ate This". A plan you skip stays a plan.
